Cricket
The cricket section is sponsored and founded under the auspices of the Boar’s Head, the Ardington pub. Find out more here…
Local league cricket was played in Ardington until the early 1990’s, when the club stopped. In subsequent years the occasional match was played, until 2005 when The Boar’s Head Cricket Club was founded at the village pub of the same name www.tbhardington.co.uk.
For the last 20 seasons or so, the club has played a mixture of weekday evening 20/20 fixtures combined with some weekend social fixtures against local club sides and visiting teams from as far away as London. The players are mostly local residents, but members of any playing standard from anywhere are welcome to join this friendly club who exemplify the best of village cricket played on beautiful grounds in a beautiful setting.
The Ardington ground is also used by East & West Hendred 3rd XI for their home games in Division 8 of the Cherwell Cricket League and in addition in 2024 it is also hosting a number of Oxfordshire U12 girls fixtures.
